Friday Night Music: King and Lionheart. More good stuff from the middle of the Atlantic. September 7, 2012, 5:38 pm. Friday Night Music: Of Monsters and Men …

A few months before she turned 28, Anna Spysz, a Polish-American living in Krakow, noticed her birthday would fall on 10/10/10 — the 10th of October 2010. She decided she had to do something very interesting to celebrate.

Another self portrait taken at the Harpa concert hall, which I call in this post a “stunning play of space and glass and light, reflecting nicely an aspect of our Icelandic people: seemingly cold, complex and overwhelming from the outside, but truly golden, strong-hearted, warmly intricate and multi-faceted on the inside.”

Another episode, another blog!

In Episode 4 we met the cool kids from Vicky, who have been very busy lately playing all over and are just about ready to drop a new album on us.

The first album was very raw but very fun for a first record, I really liked it at least. Now a few years later they have grown a lot since then..A LOT.

We met them where they have a practice space set up in Kópavogur, it was very dark and we are a low budget crew of 2 (me and Eydís) so we didn’t have any extra lights which is why the interview is a bit blowned up and a bit noisy…but I don’t hate the look of it so I’m not apologizing for anything!

The have a very simple but very cool new music video out that we play on the show but I’m going to post it here as well just because I love the song so much

You can buy the song at Gogoyoko.com as well. I can’t wait for this record to come out!

Then we have the nerds from Apparat Organ Quartet! I have known of this band for quite some time, but I never checked them out…maybe mostly because I didn’t think they would be that powerfull live…”organ music” just sounds wimpy and boring to me…

Man was I wrong though, these guys are powerfull live! There were moshpits at the show! I mean people were going nuts and here are 4 guys (and a drummer) playing ORGANS! Like really old organs!

A few days after the show I called them up and asked if you could come and take some shots of the old organs to go with the interview, and when we entered the secret lair of Apparat I was blown away, old instruments all over the place, old parts which to me looked like spare parts from spaceships or something, blinking lights and all these old speakers…I geeked out!

I collect old cameras, Im not a very active collector though, I buy maybe one a year… But these guys are ACTIVE collectors!

They told me that they even seek out these old organs from all over Iceland, if they hear about someone having something they might want, (or need for parts) they are there!
